Our Tash Comeback Thread

Here we can discuss her comeback.

Which singles do you think she will release? I think that there aren't many songs she can release from it, so I'm thinking: Babies, Soulmate, Say It Again, and if there's a fourth: No More (What Ifs). It's not really a single-friendly album to me.

The singles I think she can release are: all of the above, Backyard and Pirate Bones in the summer or spring, and possibly Lay Down in the winter. I don't really think any of these album songs will do much better than scraping top ten, with the exception of the ballad in winter and 'Backyard' in the summer, which could possibly get top 3 and top 5 with good videos.

I anticipate album sales, overall, of 150 thousand. In America, if she releases a different song to the ones on the album, 200 - 340 thousand. I think she should have released the album over in America a few weeks after it was released here, like Joss Stone did. I also think she could do with a big single, recording it and adding it to the album. Apparently that's what Shakira did with 'Hips Don't Lie'.

What do you all think?

Don't think she should release 'Backyard', personally love it - but it'd get ripped for the lyrics. Also I doubt 'No More What If's' will get released as the version without Eve was used as a Bside for 'Babies'.

My ideal single choices would go:
1. Babies
2. Say It Again (summer)
3. Soulmate (Sept/Oct)
4. Pirate Bones (Early Jan)

Obviously 'Soulmate' is set in stone, but I hope they go with 'Say It Again' after that and not 'How Do You Do?', cos I'm personally not so keen!

How well do you think 'Pirate Bones' will do? I'm thinking top 12, commercially. I think it could do well on the music channels with a good video, and that it could get C or B-listed on the radio stations.

As much as I think Natasha is awesome, part of the reason why N.B is not necesarily #1 on the charts is lack of promotion. I don't remember seeing one advert for the album anywhere on online. It's a very good album, and it could have been one on the top of the charts over in the UK, but once again my point made valid -- lack of promotion = lack of album sales. Sorry if I sound harsh, not bashing Natasha, I am bashing the method used for promoting her album. I don't live in the UK, so I am unaware if any form of advertising has been done.

Well I have ranted on enough LOL XD

I think there was a lot of promotion. There were funny adverts on the tv, she was having many high-profile interviews and gigs, on the radio all the time, BBC1 radio promoting it. I think the problem is the album simply isn't as commercial as the last, in my opinion.

That's true. This is album also seems to be totally about one subject..love. Her first album was about love as well but it featured things such as her longing to be like the 'Wild Horses' or how your life is still 'Unwritten'. It's a concept album and it is sort of an album you have to be a Natasha Bedingfield fan prior to listening to it in order to enjoy it. I don't know.

I think it's much harder to launch a pop acts album now then it was in 2004. She spent the whole summer doing pop festivals with 'These Words' but they don't happen anymore, so that was out the window. I personally think she got on all the right shows/media stuff she could have done, but I do think she could have done some more interactive stuff with fans. First time round there was an official album launch gig, a signing at Selfridges, and album fan listening party for fans at BMG in London...this didn't happen this time round.

I do think future singles could get the album back on top though :)
